Case study of a solution to the problem of an aging, deformed site (eel bed)
A multi-storey rowhouse apartment building in Nakadai, Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, on a deteriorated, deformed site (eel bed) that cannot be reconstructed.

With the multi-storey rowhouse and the partially maisonette layout, more private area per room is secured than before and an efficient floor plan is achieved.
In addition to small units, the number of maisonette types has been increased to meet various needs.

Adjacent buildings, which were dark in the past, were partially reduced to secure sunlight, and the dead space was effectively utilised as a place to store outdoor units of air-conditioning units.

Every room has an opening on the park side.
Balconies are set up where the park can be seen, and the layout allows residents to enjoy the borrowed scenery.
