Management Association Creates Guidelines for Measures Against Customer Harassment:

The Condominium Management Association announced on the 20th that it has created the "Guidelines for Formulating 'Policies for Customer Harassment' in the Condominium Management Industry."

In recent years, addressing customer harassment has become a significant societal issue, and businesses are now obligated to take measures to prevent such harassment. In October 2024, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government enacted the Tokyo Customer Harassment Prevention Ordinance, which is scheduled to come into effect on April 1, 2025. Local governments are also moving to enact similar ordinances. In response to these developments, the association has published guidelines for its members, outlining basic policies and company stances. The guidelines include the definition of customer harassment, survey results, and instructions on formulating a response policy.

Additionally, the association has created a leaflet for condominium management associations, which are entrusted with management by their members. This leaflet aims to eliminate harassment from condominium management sites and inform management associations on creating a comfortable living and working environment.

Furthermore, in response to the enforcement of the "Act on Promotion of the Elimination of Discrimination on the Grounds of Disability" in April 2024, which mandates businesses to provide reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities, the leaflet "Do you know what 'reasonable accommodation' is?" was also created. Since both management companies and management associations are subject to this law, the leaflet summarizes key points to keep in mind.
