Sekisui House, Daiwa Living, and Daito Trust to Provide Rental Data to National Statistics Bureau

On the 29th, Sekisui House Real Estate Holdings Co., Ltd., Daiwa Living Co., Ltd., and Daito Trust Partners Co., Ltd. announced that they will jointly provide large-scale data—such as rental prices, building structures, and floor areas of rental properties owned by the three companies—to the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The bureau conducts rent surveys to understand the rental market for private housing as part of its Retail Price Statistical Survey, which is used to compile and publish the Consumer Price Index. In previous surveys, data was collected manually by bureau-appointed surveyors through individual interviews with real estate companies. However, ensuring both the quality and quantity of data has been a challenge, particularly in terms of labor efficiency, cost, and accuracy of the results.

To address this, the three major companies—each operating rental housing management businesses nationwide—will provide large-scale rental data, contributing to improved efficiency and accuracy of the bureau’s surveys.

Furthermore, the three companies will participate as observers in the "Rent Data Task Force," a subcommittee of the Price Index Study Group organized by the bureau. They will also collaborate in research efforts to identify and resolve issues related to the specialized use of rental data.
