On the 20th, the Tokyo Metropolitan Real Estate Fair Trade Council held its annual general meeting at Hotel Metropolitan Edmont in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, where the business report and financial statements for fiscal year 2024 were reviewed and approved.
During the same fiscal year, a total of 950 individuals from member companies and supporting organizations participated in three training sessions hosted by the council. Additionally, lecturers were dispatched to 66 training sessions organized by member companies and related groups, with a total of 7,134 participants. The council also handled 9,636 consultations regarding advertising terms and conditions, an increase of 177 from the previous year. Of these, 8,072 were related to labeling regulations (up 131) and 537 concerned premium regulations (down 36).
The number of investigations and corrective actions taken for violations decreased to 502 properties, down 179 from the previous year, based on reports from member companies and consumers. However, the number of confirmed decoy listings rose to 146, an increase of 23, with the proportion of such listings reaching 29.1%, up 11 percentage points. The council handled 141 cases (down 45), found no violations in 22 cases (down 9), and referred 4 cases (down 67) to other regional councils due to jurisdictional differences.
The business plan for fiscal year 2025, approved by the board in March, includes a new initiative to investigate the actual status of compliance with labeling regulations in real estate advertisements posted on social media platforms. The council will focus on determining future approaches under the existing labeling agreements.
