The National Association of Vacant House Counselors held its 11th regular general meeting on the 22nd, where the FY2024 business report and financial results, as well as the FY2025 business plan and budget, were approved.
In FY2024, the association conducted 11 hybrid online certification courses for its unique qualification, the “Vacant House Counselor.” A total of 254 participants attended—an increase of 54 from the previous year. Approximately 90% of attendees registered as vacant house counselors. By the end of FY2024, the cumulative number of registered counselors since the association’s founding surpassed 2,045.
At the end of the fiscal year, the number of regular members slightly decreased by one to 57, while supporting members increased by five to 25. To enhance counselor qualifications, the association held four sessions of “Vacant House Juku” and published a monthly information magazine for counselors.
For FY2025, the association aims to increase regular members by five and supporting members by 15, targeting a total of 100 members. It also plans to attract 450 participants through certification courses, correspondence education, and remote learning, with the goal of surpassing 2,500 total counselor registrations.
To raise awareness of the qualification, the association will expand its public relations efforts via its website, social media platforms, and the YouTube channel “Vacant House Counselor Channel.” It will also contribute content to the “National Vacant House and Vacant Land Bank” on at-home and introduce recommended counselors. Free consultations will be offered at the Tokyo headquarters and regional branches.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the association will host a commemorative ceremony on December 8.
Chairman Naokyo Hayashi, who opened the general meeting, remarked, “Ten years have passed since our founding, and the cumulative number of registered vacant house counselors has reached approximately 2,100. Moving forward, we aim not only to increase our membership and counselor registrations but also to enhance the quality of our counselors through initiatives such as Vacant House Juku and monthly publications.”
