On July 31, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism launched applications for the “Reiwa 7 Housing Support Housing Renovation Project.”
Based on the revised Housing Safety Net Law, this initiative supports private businesses that renovate existing homes and provides monitoring and other assistance to residents in need of housing security during their occupancy.
A total of 13 types of renovation work are eligible for subsidies, including barrier-free upgrades (such as accessible exterior features), earthquake-resistant improvements, and conversions to communal living spaces. The subsidy covers one-third of the renovation cost (up to 500,000 yen per unit), with higher limits available for certain projects.
